busy art teacher

Well, I have not done much blogging to say the least. I have been so busy teaching, but I was able to go on a girl's trip and see earth, wind, and fire. We were surprised by another friend with back stage passes. It was pretty cool.

Wish me Luck

Well tomorrow is my first official day back to school. Today was a sad day, all of the staff went to a memorial service for a mom that passed away unexpectantly and left behind 4 little girls and a husband. It was very remindful of just how precious our little moments are. The girls are returning to our school, they will be wrapped up in prayers and love. Please say a prayer to our sweet Mother Mary for the Joseph family.

Rocky Point Trip

We just got back from Puerto Penasco and I have just one thing to say,"Portugese Man of War Season!" Yikes, we all had our fair share of little stings, but my girlfriend's son got the pleasure of going to the clinic for a little IV drip of hydorcortizone. All in all it was beautiful to be by the sea and go collecting each morning on the beach. I am now back in art teacher mode and have been busy creating powerpoints for lessons on Joseph Cornell and the Renaissance.

"Riding on the backs of Men" sketchbook page

I used materials from magazines and some supplies from artchix studio. The man at the bottom is naturalist John Muir.

Collaged Pendants

I bought the supplies from artchix studio and started playing.

step three

Now I painted in her hair and her dress. This is as far as I got last night.

step two

I took a brayer and spread paint over the papers and drew my central figure in with a charcoal pencil. I filled in my figure with gesso, but left the dress alone.

Painting I am working on, Step one

I got the idea from an article in cloth, paper, scissors. I collaged a bunch of patterned papers onto a large piece of canvas.

Some of my current work

I was blessed to have been able to take a workshop with Teesha Moore a while back. This is the result of her inspiration. She is so humble, what talent!

sun worn and tired

Today the kids and I spent the day at a water park with my girlfriend's family, need less to say I am exhausted and a little dehydrated. Yet, I still find the energy to gaze upon everyone's gorgeous art. Good night everyone and I'm gonna drink a big glass of water.

The Virgin Blogger

Well here goes nothing. I have never blogged before. I get inspired reading other very creative blog entries from fellow artists and art teachers. I hope this opens up a portal of communication with other creative minds. As the school year starts I tend to get caught up in lessons for my students and lose my sense of creative self until Christmas Break or worse June! Stay in touch world and see what might happen.
